To be honest I reserved our stay at the Juniper Hotel looking for the closest lodging to our downhill ski destination in Banff National Park.
Located down the road from Mount Norquay, the prospect of crawling into the Juniper Hotel’s outdoor hot tub following a day on the ski slopes, after using leg muscles long forgotten, seemed to outweigh most all other considerations. My husband could just roll me out of the vehicle and I could crawl in to heated bliss.
Juniper Hotel Banff: My Review
It is tough to beat an outdoor hot tub with a view of the mountains however the rustic luxury that greeted us at Juniper Hotel pleasantly surprised us.
The Panoramic View at Juniper Hotel Banff
Waking up to the 180 degree view of the Canadian Rockies and iconic Mount Rundle outside the window, one finds it difficult to remember what the daily grind back home actually involves. Juniper Hotel’s picture postcard setting will be a vivid memory I will revisit as needed on a stress filled day.
The Food at Juniper Hotel
With an in house bakery and all food made my hand, the Juniper Bistro currently holds the #3 spot out of 127 restaurants in Banff on Trip Advisor. No small feat when considering the renowned eating establishments of this Canadian Rockies hotspot.
Gluten and vegetarian options are available and delicious. Although not a strict vegetarian I can vouch that a lot of restaurants serve vegetarian options resembling beige cardboard. Not so at the Juniper Bistro.
With weather permitting sit on the patio or dine inside. At Juniper a special Apres Ski menu is available from 3:00-9:00 pm. Did I mention the view?
Morning coffee at Juniper Bistro- Shall we sit outside or in?
There are other hotels in Banff with astounding views, and frankly some astounding prices. Juniper Hotel has reasonable rates and special ski and stay packages mid-week. The prices will leave you smiling and blinking to ensure you are seeing correctly. I know I did.
Banff is a tourist mecca with world wide visitors and often prices to match. Who doesn’t like rustic luxury at a sensible cost?
Juniper Hotel’s Friendly Service
A relaxed, welcoming atmosphere greeted us as we wandered in with suitcases, ski helmets, ice skates and multiple bags. I’m not sure if we have ever arrived anywhere with more luggage in tow.
Where some hotels are very picky about what you have on site and staff roll their eyes at the sight of such paraphernalia entering their establishment, Juniper hotel will make room for bikes, backpacks and more. Juniper provides storage for your skis if you have brought your own equipment.
There is not an elevator to the second floor however the staff will take all of your luggage to your room if you require assistance.
The Juniper sits on an archaeological site that has been a meeting place for humans for over 11,000 years. This sunny spot with it’s astounding views has been enjoyed for millennia. Artwork throughout the hotel reflects the heritage of those who have shared this beautiful location.
The rooms of the Juniper included wheel chair accessible suits, cabins with kitchenettes, walk out decks and pet friendly options. Best of all our cozy place was shining and spotless. The room had everything we needed including a safe and free Wifi.
Did I mention how clean it was?
Juniper Hotel’s Central Location
One of the best locations in Banff, the Juniper Hotel provides that mountain escape ambiance and serenity as well as accessibility to the vibrant downtown. Choose to enjoy a fabulous meal gazing out over the mountains, or wander into Banff for the crowds and energy that the town is known for. It’s just a 10 minute walk. Juniper Hotel affords both options.
You never know while staying at Juniper Hotel you just may see some wildlife. Enjoy the rustic luxury and the view of a lifetime.
